Its the Season for Raccoons

Get rid of Raccoon

If you’re familiar with raccoons, you’ll know the type of damage they can cause and the last thing you want is for them to hang out around your property.

Raccoons are probably one of the most clever and persistent suburban pests. With athletic abilities like climbing, swimming, jumping and running, breaking into your trash cans is a simple task for them.

Raccoons are nocturnal, which means while you’re sleeping, they’ll be wandering around searching for a meal. As omnivores, they’ll pretty much eat anything from fallen fruits, left out pet food to food scraps found in your trash bins.

  • Signs you have raccoons
  • tipped over trash bin or trash tossed about
  • damaged garden or fish pond
  • spilled or emptied pet food bowl
  • holes in lawn
  • tracks
  • droppings

How to get rid of raccoons

Protect your trash. Secure your lids with a bungee cord or something heavy like a cinder block.

Tidy up. Pick up fallen fruits, remove brush, trim overgrown trees or overgrown bushes. Basically, limit the number of hiding places.

Don’t leave food out. Bring in bird feeders or pet food that is left outside in the open.

Scare them away. Installation of motion light detectors or motion detecting sprinklers may be a good deterrent.
